As many of you may have noticed I have moved away from tarot much since this site began.

It’s funny, as I have begun to undergo my own awakening and self growth and learning through my holistic counseling,  I have found that many people require healing as much as they yearn for guidance through tarot.

This is not to say that tarot does not have its place (I promise my next post will be tarot focused :). I am excited to go through the minor Arcana). It’s more that support and development sometimes requires more.

The tarot is a great tool for guidance but self mastery and healing are being shown to me as  much needed with people undergoing awakening and dissatisfaction in a society that has become empty of heart. And my Dharma/Karma is ever leading me to enrichen my knowledge and practice.

Why Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is an enriching process of creating positive life altering changes, that if continued, will effect your well being and life forever. Mind, body and spirit.

Take a deep breath in and be aware of how this idea feels. Breathe into it and be with it. Now let it go.

You’ve done it. Your first mindfulness practice, easy wasn’t it?

Practicing mindfulness Over a few weeks you will deepen your inner connection. You will experience shifts in your inner life, your brain will begin to create new neural pathways, your body will experience healing and repair and your spirit will be lifted (literally).

Mindfulness is an Ancient Buddhist practice that basically means: The ability to focus one’s attention on the present moment. To be aware without judgment and to be with whatever is arising.

It uses the principles of:
relaxation
acceptance
compassion
and surrender to move our minds from the endless chatter into a more peaceful and useful state.

When we become aware of our thoughts we can choose how we respond to them. This is where acceptance comes in – being present to what arises without judgment, just being with it – cultivates acceptance. Acceptance of what is. When we accept what is happening, we begin to disengage the struggle, the resistance, the fight. This is a fundamental principle of mindfulness. It is what opens the pathway to a loving kindness (compassion) for the self, which heals us, and for surrender (letting go).

It is important to note that surrender in Buddhist philosophy does not contain negative connotations that we in the Western world have attributed to it. It means to let go of attachments (of the mind) to something. In this case a thought or a feeling.

We become aware of it – we be with it – we meet it with loving kindness – we let it go.

Most people are living, acting, reacting from their subconscious mind. Mindfulness brings these subconscious thoughts to the surface, so that we can begin to move from a new and better informed place.

Research shows that the brain is elastic, meaning it is able to change. This change occurs through practical measures. By repeating something over and over we change the neural pathways in our brain, we change our subconscious patterns and we begin to create new ones. But this takes time and practice.

Mindfulness  practice that uses techniques that help us begin to become aware and abiding in the present moment. But, we can also take it a step further, to change the negative patterns and behaviours, and bring in more success promoting thoughts and beliefs. By using techniques that create new and transformative mind suggestions so we can begin to manifest success in ways we never thought possible.
