The Death card tarot meaning love

Death card tarot meaning love

is one of the tarot’s most feared cards.

The imagery itself can startle. Yet, as life prevails this card does not have to be all gloom.

The card, in  traditional decks, depicts a black figure on a white horse (for the fool to witness), that the  fool sees as death. The fool weeps and grieves instantly at this sight; both embarrassed and fearful, the fool asks for forgiveness.

This card with out a doubt precedes an ending, very rarely it is an actual death, but it doesn’t have to be a dramatic ending or as others say with the death card ‘traumatic’. Death of the current self is more likely, or a situation.

If questioning love, it more then likely  implies a physical ending to a relationship. It can sometimes mean an ending within the relationship, but this rarely goes without pain and emotional release.

The lesson of the Death card is  to remind us that things end, especially ones that we have outgrown, or that no longer serve us. It may not be that forgiveness is required, but deep reflection to gain understanding of an inner need, or purposeful fulfillment, that needs room to grow by ending something. It asks us to allow a period of grieving, to allow our self the feelings of loss before heading forth, into the new.

Often there is a spiritual message when the Death card is drawn in a tarot card reading. It draws attention to an inner battle, or an external situation that requires us to grow and mature in our spiritual selves. Lessons need to be learned.

The Death card gives us permission to learn them and offers us an opportunity to undergo a process of letting go, mixed with greater inner comprehension. Grief is vital, as it brings us closer to understanding ourselves and to what we want and do not want in our inner and outer worlds.

I always suggest with the death card that life is presenting us with an opportunity to see ourselves more clearly, to go deeper; i.e. to gain more clarity and to reach toward a greater opportunity of obtaining joy and soulful connections. Remember, the more we master grief the more room there is for fun.

Death allows for rebirth and can be a happy occasion for some. If a job that you have been holding onto for security, that you dread going to everyday or a friendship that is draining you ends, you may feel loss but as time goes by it always feels better and leaves space for something more true and fulfilling.

If you have the death card in a reading the best thing you can do is accept it and begin the process of healing and letting go. An excellent way to do this when this card appears is to acquire a black candle and to let it burn. Whilst gazing upon it visualise the person or situation leaving. Visualise you walking away to a brighter, happier place. Black candles specifically are useful for releasing negative energies and for dissolving hurts.
